Το Ινστιτούτο Κομφούκιος στο Τεχνολογικό Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου (ΤΕΠΑΚ) διοργάνωσε με χαρά την πρώτη του γιορτή για την Κινέζικη Πρωτοχρονιά, σηματοδοτώντας ένα σημαντικό ορόσημο στην αποστολή του για την προώθηση της πολιτιστικής ανταλλαγής και την ενίσχυση των δεσμών μεταξύ Κίνας και Κύπρου.
Την εκδήλωσε τίμησαν με την παρουσία τους, ο Πρέσβης της Κίνας στην Κύπρο, κ. Liu Liantao, οι πρυτανικές αρχές του ΤΕΠΑΚ, μέλη του Συμβουλίου του πανεπιστημίου, ακαδημαϊκό και διοικητικό προσωπικό και πλήθος φοιτητών και φοιτητριών.
Η εκδήλωση ξεκίνησε με ένα θερμό καλωσόρισμα από τη Διευθύντρια του Ινστιτούτου Κομφούκιος, Δρα Άννα Νικολάου. Ακολούθησαν ομιλίες από τον Πρέσβη Liu και τον Πρύτανη του ΤΕΠΑΚ, Παναγιώτη Ζαφείρη, οι οποίες ανέδειξαν τη σημασία της πολιτιστικής κατανόησης και της ενισχυμένης συνεργασίας μεταξύ του ΤΕΠΑΚ και κινεζικών ακαδημαϊκών ιδρυμάτων. Η εκδήλωση που πραγματοποιήθηκε σε ένα κατάμεστο αμφιθέατρο με συμμετοχή πέραν των 150 φοιτητών/τριών.
Η γιορτή είχε ιδιαίτερη σημασία για τους 76 φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες του Πανεπιστημίου Hangzhou Dianzi (HDU) που παρακολουθούν αυτό το διάστημα χειμερινό σχολείο στο ΤΕΠΑΚ, τους 19 μεταπτυχιακούς φοιτητές από το HDU που φοιτούν στο ΤΕΠΑΚ στο κοινό πρόγραμμα μάστερ MSc in Electronic Science and Technology, καθώς και τις τέσσερις μεταπτυχιακές φοιτήτριες Αρχαιολογίας, Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς και Μουσειολογίας από το Πανεπιστήμιο Zhejiang, οι οποίες πραγματοποιούν πρακτική άσκηση στο ΤΕΠΑΚ.
Η εκδήλωση επέτρεψε σ’ αυτούς τους φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες να γιορτάσουν την Κινέζικη Πρωτοχρονιά στην Κύπρο, ενώ παράλληλα έδωσε στους ντόπιους φοιτητές και φοιτήτριες την ευκαιρία να ζήσουν μια ενδιαφέρουσα διαπολιτισμική εμπειρία.
Η εκδήλωση περιελάμβανε ομιλίες από εκπροσώπους φοιτητών/τριών και ένα ζωντανό πολιτιστικό πρόγραμμα, το οποίο ανέδειξε τις πλούσιες παραδόσεις της κινεζικής κληρονομιάς. Συγκεκριμένα το πολιτιστικό πρόγραμμα περιελάμβανε χορωδιακή παράσταση, παράσταση Hanfu και επίδειξη Tai Chi.
Καθώς καλωσορίζουμε το Έτος του Φιδιού, αγκαλιάζουμε τον συμβολισμό της σοφίας, της χάρης και της ευημερίας. Το Ινστιτούτο Κομφούκιος στο ΤΕΠΑΚ προσβλέπει στην περαιτέρω ενίσχυση των πολιτιστικών και ακαδημαϊκών ανταλλαγών μεταξύ Κίνας και Κύπρου τα επόμενα χρόνια.

The Confucius Institute at the Cyprus University of Technology celebrated the Chinese New Year for the first time!
The Confucius Institute at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) joyfully organized its first Chinese New Year celebration, marking an important milestone in its mission to promote cultural exchange and strengthen ties between China and Cyprus.
The event was graced by the presence of the Chinese Ambassador to Cyprus, Mr. Liu Liantao, the CUT Rectorate, members of the University Council, academic and administrative staff, and a large number of students. The event began with a warm welcome from the Director of the Confucius Institute, Dr. Anna Nicolaou. This was followed by speeches from Ambassador Liu and Rector Zaphiri, highlighting the importance of cultural understanding and the growing collaboration between the Cyprus University of Technology and Chinese higher education institutions.
The event, which was held in a packed auditorium with over 150 students in attendance, was of particular significance to the 76 Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU students currently attending the winter school at the Cyprus University of Technology, the 19 postgraduate students from HDU who are studying at the Cyprus University of Technology in the joint MSc in Electronic Science and Technology program, as well as the four postgraduate students in Archaeology, Cultural Heritage and Museology from Zhejiang University who are doing an internship at the Cyprus University of Technology. The event allowed these students to celebrate the Chinese New Year in Cyprus, while also giving local students the opportunity to have an interesting cross-cultural experience.
The event included speeches by student representatives and a lively cultural program, which highlighted the rich traditions of Chinese heritage. Specifically, the cultural program included a choral performance, a Hanfu performance, and a Tai Chi demonstration.
As we welcome the Year of the Snake, we embrace the symbolism of wisdom, grace, and prosperity. The Confucius Institute at CUT looks forward to further enhancing cultural and academic exchanges between China and Cyprus in the years to come.
